Energy - Transport and Distribution

LEG Group has recognized expertise in the energy sector, particularly with regards to electrical transmission, distribution and substations. This is the sector of activity that gave us our start, and we have operated in it for over 40 years. We can confidently say that electricity runs in our blood, and we have a vast understanding of the issues and challenges related to this sector. We are proud to contribute to improving access to sustainable energy for everyone.

Market's details

Type of transport and distribution

  • Construction of electricity transmission line
  • Construction of electricity distribution line
  • Construction of electrical substation
  • Construction of oil and gas pipeline

Building Over Long Distances Is a Logistical Challenge

Building an electrical transmission line or an oil pipeline involves long distances, which presents complex technical and logistical challenges. Equipment, materials and workers must be moved constantly, and on a large scale, which requires solid expertise in transport and supply logistics. It is not uncommon for work to be carried out on several work fronts simultaneous, in an interrupted sequence, which adds great pressure on project management teams and the personnel in the field. Over the years, LEG has developed this type of expertise, making our company a reliable partner, a partner of choice.

Building Temporary, Installing Permanent

Installing foundations for the construction of an electrical transmission line involves not having permanent roads to access work sites. Operating on temporary infrastructure is part of LEG’s daily life. Developing access with flotation panels, developing sites in winter conditions, transporting heavy equipment on narrow temporary roads are among the many challenges we face every day. This is why LEG has adapted its equipment fleet to manage any eventuality specific to this market, making us a unique company in Canada.

Geotechnical Data, the Key to Selecting the Right Foundation

Geotechnical data is essential to determining the most appropriate type of foundation for a specific site. The nature of the soil, its composition, its resistance and its bearing capacity are all factors that directly influence the type of foundation required for a given soil profile. With its expertise in geotechnics, LEG carries out comprehensive studies to collect this crucial data. With our geotechnical drilling capacity (destructive, SPT) and our rigorous analyses, we are able to help you select the most suitable type of foundation. This customized approach guarantees a selection of reliable foundations, as economical as possible, and avoids an aborted installation on site.

The Secret Is Multidisciplinary Expertise

Installing foundations for the energy market requires mastering multiple techniques and technologies. The wide variety of foundation types present in this sector of activity demands that we be experts in all facets of civil engineering. Whether it is drilling, injection, formwork, concreting or excavation, LEG has this expertise.
